The museum is open daily from 9:30am to 5pm, with guided tours available at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm. Admission prices are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for children.

In the surrounding area, visitors can explore the historic town of Russell, which was the first capital of New Zealand. Other nearby attractions include the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed between the Maori chiefs and the British Crown in 1840, and the Paihia Beach, a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing.
